Car Doctor’s Pro Tips for Hybrids:

The PHEV Paradox: Even with a full battery, your gas engine will often start if you set the heater to 'Max.' To force the car to stay in EV mode, keep the climate control at a moderate temperature (68-70°F) and rely on your heated seats and steering wheel instead!
Tire Pressure Maintenance: Cold air is denser, meaning your tire pressure drops as the temperature falls. Check your PSI every two weeks during winter; low pressure significantly increases rolling resistance and kills your MPG.
Grille Covers for Extreme Cold: If you live in the extreme North (Upper Midwest/Alaska), a partial grille cover can be a lifesaver. It helps the engine reach and maintain efficient operating temperatures, preventing the system from running the ICE constantly just to stay warm.
Predictive Energy Management: If your Hybrid has a built-in Nav with 'Predictive' features, use it! It tells the car when to save battery for city traffic and when to use the engine for highway stretches, optimizing your efficiency by up to 10%.
