One thing I'd be particularly interested in hearing at PaleyFest is how creators decide what to leave out.
Every series begins with more ideas than can realistically fit on screen. Some scenes, characters, or storylines may be excellent on their own, yet still have to be cut for the benefit of the overall story.
I think the hardest creative decisions often aren't about what to add, but what to remove without losing the emotional impact or the heart of the series.
I'd love to hear how today's showrunners approach those decisions, because I believe those conversations can reveal just as much about a series as what ultimately makes it to the screen.
I'm curious whether other writers and filmmakers feel the same, or if you think a different part of the creative process is even more challenging.
