Kia Sportage Hybrid:

Engine Options: Equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of approximately 226 horsepower.
Fuel Efficiency: Achieves an EPA-estimated 43 mpg combined, making it one of the more fuel-efficient options in its class.

Safety and Driver Assistance:

Ratings: Previously awarded a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, reflecting strong safety credentials.

Kia Sportage Hybrid:

Technology: Features an intuitive infotainment system with smartphone integration and optional digital cockpit display.

Kia Sportage Hybrid:

Kia Sportage Hybrid:

Cargo Space: Provides 39.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, expanding to 73.7 cubic feet with seats folded, leading its class.

Pricing and Availability:

Skoda Karoq Hybrid:

Pricing: Starts at approximately £26,000 for the base model; however, hybrid variants may not be widely available in all markets.
Availability: Prospective buyers should consult local dealerships for the most current information on hybrid availability.

Kia Sportage Hybrid:

Pricing: Begins around £29,000, offering a competitive price point given its features and hybrid technology.
Availability: Readily available across multiple markets with various trim options.

The Sportage probably wins the showroom battle, but the Karoq may win the ownership battle after a few years.
Sometimes the better SUV isn’t the one that looks more impressive on day one it’s the one that becomes less annoying to live with over time.

One thing worth mentioning with the Karoq is that it's one of the few compact SUVs that still feels refreshingly simple compared to many newer rivals.

That said, I'd pay attention to the 1.5 TSI and DSG combination as the miles add up. Some owners have reported hesitation at low speeds, occasional DSG jerkiness in traffic, and expensive sensor or infotainment faults once the warranty expires.

Still, what I like about the Karoq is that it focuses on practicality, visibility, and comfort rather than chasing giant screens and gimmicks. In daily use, that often matters more than people expect.
