Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a quick fix I figured out this week. If you’re driving a PowerBoost hybrid F-150, you’ve probably seen that annoying „Charging System Service Soon” message, or noticed your truck going into „Deep Sleep” mode for no reason (killing your keyless entry).

Before you go out and drop $400 on a new battery or leave your truck at the dealership for days, try this manual BMS reset. It worked for me when even the software updates failed.

Here’s the step-by-step (no tools needed):
  1. Get in and turn the ignition to ON (but DON’T start the engine!).
  2. Flash your high beams 5 times.
  3. Tap the brake pedal 3 times.
  4. Wait about 10 seconds. If done correctly, the battery icon on your dash will flash. This means the system has reset and recalibrated the charging logic.
Since I did this, the error is gone and all my features are back to normal. Hope this saves some of you a headache!

Cheers, CarDoktor

I’ve seen this come up quite a few times with PowerBoost F-150s. What you described is basically a manual BMS reset. It’s not an official fix, but it often works when the system misreads the 12 V battery and triggers Deep Sleep or charging warnings for no real reason.
It won’t fix a weak or failing battery, and it won’t fix a real charging system fault either. But for random warnings, it’s a solid first thing to try before replacing parts or heading to the dealer.
After the reset, it helps to take the truck on a 30–40 minute drive so the system can relearn charging behavior properly.
