Hyundai Ioniq 5: Provides battery capacities of 63 kWh and 84 kWh, with power outputs from 170 hp to 609 hp, depending on the configuration.

Range and Efficiency

Kia EV3:
The larger 81.4 kWh battery offers a maximum range of up to 605 km on a single charge, with energy consumption between 14.9 to 16.2 kWh per 100 km.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Depending on the battery and drivetrain, the Ioniq 5 provides a range between 440 km and 570 km, with energy consumption ranging from 15.6 to 21.2 kWh per 100 km.

Interior and Cargo Space

Kia EV3:
Accommodates five passengers with a trunk capacity of 460 liters. The interior features a modern design with a digital instrument cluster and an intuitive infotainment system.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Also seats five, offering a larger trunk space of 520 liters. It boasts a minimalist interior with dual touchscreen displays and advanced features like over-the-air updates and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.

Pricing and Availability

Kia EV3:
Positioned as a more affordable option, with prices starting around €37,000.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Offers a broader price range due to its various configurations, with starting prices around €38,000.

Pros and Cons

Kia EV3:

Pros: Superior energy efficiency, competitive pricing, compact design suitable for urban environments.
Cons: Smaller cargo space compared to the Ioniq 5, potentially less powerful in certain configurations.

Hyundai Ioniq 5:
Pros:
Higher performance options, larger cargo capacity, advanced technological features.
Cons: Higher energy consumption, larger dimensions may be less ideal for city driving.

The choice between the Kia EV3 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 really comes down to priorities. The EV3 feels like the smarter efficiency-focused daily EV, while the Ioniq 5 offers a more premium long-distance experience with more space and performance.

But which one would you actually trust to own once the warranty is gone and the real long-term EV costs start showing up?

The hidden part nobody talks about enough is long-term ownership.
The EV3 looks great for efficiency and city driving, but it’s still a very new model, so real reliability is still unknown. First-gen software bugs and charging quirks are always possible.

The Ioniq 5 already proved itself more, but there have been reports about ICCU failures, 12V battery issues, and charging interruptions on some fast chargers.
EV3 feels like the smarter compact daily EV
Ioniq 5 feels more premium and better for long trips.
But which one will still feel like the smarter purchase 6–8 years from now once the batteries, electronics and warranty coverage start aging?
