🚙 EV Range Test Line-up

Genesis GV70802 / 490hp700Nm298 miles~£66,000
BMW iX (xDrive50)1092 / 544hp765Nm426 miles~£107,000
Audi Q6 e-tron951 / 306hp485Nm360 miles~£71,000
Kia EV91001 / 203hp350Nm349 miles~£65,000
Polestar 3 (RWD)1111 / 300hp490Nm438 miles~£85,000 (as tested)

📊 On-paper expectations

  • Longest claimed range: Polestar 3 (438 mi) > BMW iX (426 mi).
  • Middle ground: Audi Q6 e-tron (360 mi) & Kia EV9 (349 mi).
  • Shortest claimed: Genesis GV70 (298 mi).

But real-world usually trims 15–25% off those numbers depending on weather, speed, and driving style.

⚡ What usually happens in Carwow’s tests

  • BMW iX: Often gets close to its WLTP claim because of efficiency tuning, though heavy weight can drag results.
  • Polestar 3: Big battery, but range may suffer slightly if software/efficiency isn’t as dialed in as BMW’s.
  • Audi Q6 e-tron: VW Group EVs tend to undershoot their claimed ranges a bit.
  • Kia EV9: Big, boxy SUV — aero hurts, so expect real-world range noticeably less than claimed.
  • Genesis GV70: Smaller battery + dual motors = least efficient, probably the first to die.

🔮 My prediction order (furthest to shortest, real-world):

  1. BMW iX (proven efficiency champ in past tests)
  2. Polestar 3 (very close, but software maturity may hold it back slightly)
  3. Audi Q6 e-tron
  4. Kia EV9
  5. Genesis GV70 (almost certainly last place)
