The 2026 ES might end up being one of the most important Lexus sedans in years.

But I honestly think the real story is not the horsepower or the screens it’s whether Lexus can still build a luxury car designed for true long-term ownership in the modern EV era.

Performance and Range Enhancements

The 2026 ES offers a variety of powertrains:

  • Hybrid (ES 350h): Features a 2.5-liter engine with improved battery capacity, delivering 245 horsepower. Available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations.
  • Electric (ES 350e and ES 500e):
    • ES 350e: Front-wheel drive with 222 horsepower and an estimated range of 300 miles.
    • ES 500e: All-wheel drive with 338 horsepower, capable of 0–62 mph in 5.9 seconds, and an estimated range of 380 miles.

The new GA-K platform enhances structural rigidity, contributing to improved handling and ride comfort. The introduction of a multi-link rear suspension system further refines the driving experience.

Safety Features and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

The 2026 ES is equipped with the Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, which includes:
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)
  • Driver Emergency Response System
  • Driver Monitor System
  • High-definition Adaptive High-beam System
  • Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
  • Pre-Collision Safety (PCS)
These features are designed to enhance driver awareness and vehicle safety.

Interior Comfort and Technology

The interior of the 2026 ES emphasizes luxury and technology:

  • Design: Incorporates the "Clean Tech x Elegance" concept with bamboo-textured door panels made from 3D printed materials and ambient lighting.
  • Technology: Features a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and dual Bluetooth device connectivity.
  • Comfort: The Executive Package offers reclining rear seats with a passenger-side ottoman, massaging seats, and rear seat heating and ventilation.

Pricing and Availability

  • Estimated Starting Price: Around $45,000, varying based on trim and options.
  • Availability: Expected to launch in early 2026, with market availability by March 2026.

Conclusion

The 2026 ES honestly feels like one of the biggest turning points Lexus has had in years.

If Lexus can successfully combine modern EV-era technology with the long-term durability the brand became famous for, this could end up being one of the strongest luxury daily drivers on the US market.

🏁 Conclusion

The 2026 Lexus ES represents a significant advancement in Lexus's commitment to luxury, performance, and sustainability. With its array of powertrain options, state-of-the-art safety features, and refined interior, it stands poised to compete strongly in the luxury sedan market.
What I’m most curious about with the 2026 ES is whether Lexus can still maintain the long-term durability reputation that made older ES generations almost bulletproof.

On paper, this thing looks incredibly impressive.

More power.
More tech.
Better suspension.
Far more advanced EV and hybrid integration than previous ES models.

But modern luxury cars are also becoming much more software-dependent than ever before.

That’s where things get interesting long term.

I’d personally pay attention to things like:

battery cooling performance in very hot US states

infotainment stability after years of OTA updates

sensor and driver-assist repair costs outside warranty

road noise from EV-focused low rolling resistance tires

touch-sensitive interior controls aging over time

One thing Lexus still usually does better than many competitors though is hybrid durability.

Older Lexus hybrids have proven surprisingly reliable even at very high mileage if maintained correctly.

If Lexus manages to combine modern EV-era technology with the old-school ES reliability reputation, this could become one of the strongest luxury daily drivers in the US market.

The real question is whether this still feels like a traditional long-term ownership Lexus…
or if the brand is slowly moving toward the shorter tech-cycle approach many luxury brands are following now.
