Honestly, I’d be a bit careful with the Kia K4, especially since it’s a brand-new model. My neighbor actually bought one a few months ago (the GT-Line Turbo), and it hasn’t been a perfect experience so far.
He’s already had a couple of annoying issues. The infotainment system randomly freezes and restarts sometimes, and the driver assistance systems have thrown a few warning messages for no clear reason. Nothing catastrophic, but for a brand new car it’s definitely frustrating.
Another thing he mentioned is the transmission behavior. Even with the turbo model and the 8-speed automatic, the car sometimes feels hesitant when accelerating. And with the base IVT/CVT version it’s apparently even worse the engine revs a lot but the car doesn’t really move the way you’d expect.
Build quality also didn’t impress him as much as he expected. Some interior panels already started making small rattling noises after only a few thousand miles.
On the other hand, the Jetta is a much more proven platform. It may not look as flashy inside, but the 1.5T engine is efficient, smooth, and Volkswagen has been refining the Jetta for years. A couple of people I know own Jettas and they’ve been pretty reliable overall.
So personally, if I had to choose between the two, I’d probably go with the Jetta. The Kia might look more modern and have more tech, but I’d take a proven car over a brand-new model with potential early issues.
