It is based on the Renault 5 Electric and is expected to start at around £35,000, with higher-performance versions potentially exceeding £40,000.

Performance and Range:
The A290 will feature a 52 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering an estimated range of approximately 236 miles on the WLTP cycle. It supports rapid charging up to 100 kW, enabling a 10-80% charge in around 30 minutes. The initial powertrain will deliver about 218 PS (160 kW), with a more powerful 270 PS (199 kW) version expected to join the lineup by 2027.

Design and Features:

The A290 will retain much of the radical design from its concept version, including distinctive X-shaped driving lights and sporty styling. It will be a five-door hatchback, providing more practicality compared to rivals like the three-door Abarth 500e and MINI Cooper Electric.

Interior and Equipment:
Inside, the A290 features a driver-focused layout with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.1-inch infotainment screen. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, heated sports seats, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher trims will offer additional luxuries such as a Nappa leather interior, premium audio system, and performance-oriented enhancements like upgraded brakes and tires.

The A290 is anticipated to appeal to those looking for a blend of performance, style, and everyday usability in an electric vehicle. Full details, including exact pricing and final specifications, are expected closer to its release in 2024.
