Guys, I love my Model Y, but honestly... there are some things that drive me crazy!
I’ve been cruising around Los Angeles for a while now, and while the tech is unbeatable, there are 5 common issues that I just can’t get over. If you're thinking about getting a Tesla, be prepared for these:
The Suspension vs. LA Roads: Man, the Model Y suspension is incredibly stiff. Here in LA, where the 405 or the side streets look like a war zone sometimes, I feel every single pothole in my spine. There’s no real factory fix; it’s just tuned too hard for the weight.
Phantom Braking: This is the scariest one. You’re on Autopilot in the bright sun, and the car suddenly slams on the brakes for no reason. It’s a glitch in the Vision system (cameras), but even in 2024, it’s not fully fixed. It’s dangerous if someone is tailgating you.
Wind Noise on the Highway: Despite the double-pane glass, once you hit 70-80 mph, there’s this whistling sound near the window like it’s not fully closed. Service says it’s “within spec,” so there’s nothing to do but crank up the music.
The "Tesla Rattles": The interior is minimalist, but it rattles. Sometimes it’s the passenger seat vibrating, other times it’s a chirp from the trim. For a car at this price point, it’s annoying, and the Service Center usually just shrugs it off.
Blinding Auto High Beams: The auto high beam feature is hit or miss it either dips too late or flashes unnecessarily. In LA traffic, it’s embarrassing because everyone thinks I’m flashing my lights at them.
"Anyone else feeling my pain in SoCal?
